The 23rd annual Create an Ad/Write an Editorial Contest will provide an opportunity for students to compete for publication. Grade-appropriate contests including writing, cartooning and ad designing.

This geographic novella focuses on the prevalent problem of bullying. Students are asked to make choices and to think about strategies for handling a bully. Every child in school knows about bullying, as each one is a victim, a bully, or a witness. This important section helps them cope.

During this week NIE is promoted nationwide. Each teacher will receive a new guide that will focus on both vocabulary development and reading comprehension, while centering on understanding the content of the newspaper. Participating teachers will receive daily classroom newspapers, March 3-7.
