What is NIE?
Newspaper In Education is a nationwide program to help students develop a habit of reading the news. Reading an e-edition on a regular basis can help improve literacy and basic skills, develop lifelong learning and promote citizenship. The NIE Program provides e-editions for classes and online resources for teachers. |
Who can participate in NIE?
All classes in Bucks County, Eastern Montgomery County and Burlington County are welcome to participate by receiving e-editions to use for educational purposes. |
What does it cost to participate in the NIE program?
There is no charge for classes that receive e-editions on a regular basis. Through the NIE Sponsorship Program local businesses and subscribers donate funds to provide the e-editions to participating schools. |
How many days of the week can my class receive e-editions?
The e-edition is available for classes every weekday and the Sunday e-edition can read via the 30-day archive. |
Are both print copies of the newspaper and the online digital edition available for my classroom?
Yes, you may purchase print copies at .35 per copy or receive the online digital edition at no charge through the NIE Sponsorship Program. |
Are Sunday newspapers available for classrooms?
Having access to the online digital edition provides access to the Sunday editions through the 30-day archive. |
How do I receive the weekly NIE Connections supplement?
All teachers registered to receive e-editions through the NIE Sponsorship Program will automatically receive a set of NIE Connections weekly. |
Are teacher guides available for participating teachers?
All teachers involved in the NIE Sponsorship Program are given access to hundreds of password-protected teaching resources on the NIE web site.
