Welcome to NIE Online
NIE is an acronym for Newspaper In Education, a nationwide program to help students develop a newspaper reading habit.  Reading the newspaper on a regular basis can help improve literacy and basic skills, develop lifelong learning and promote citizenship. The NIE Literacy and Youth Readership Programs at the Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer provide nearly 2 million newspapers yearly, curriculum guides, thematic units, contests for students and teacher workshops. The online digital edition of the Courier Times is also available to all classrooms.

In one package, newspapers offer everything people need to become informed, educated citizens of the world. They truly are the textbook for life. Virtually any subject can be connected to and taught using the newspaper. It's the educational tool for students of all ages.

Jim Abbott, former Vice President of the Newspaper Association of America Foundation
